In Scotland, we will journey on the West Highland Line and enjoy the Scottish Highland scenery, crossing the dramatic Glenfinnan Viaduct, made up           of 21 arches, offering spectacular views along Loch Shiel. We'll also travel on the acclaimed Kyle Line, travelling right across from the west to the         east coast.

 

Take in some of England's lovely rural countryside as we travel on the wonderful Settle-Carlisle Railway through the Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valley        to quaint Settle. Whilst in Yorkshire we can step back in time on the carriages of the North York Moors Railway and enjoy our trip through beautiful National Park scenery, from Pickering to Grosmont.

 

The welcoming West Somerset Railway is one of Britain's longest heritage railways. Here we can sit back and take in the passing scenery through         the Quantock Hills, to the coastal resort of Minehead.

 

In Wales we will enjoy two acclaimed journeys taking in the stunning mountain scenery of Snowdonia National Park. We'll enjoy a trip on the fantastic steam locomotives of the popular Ffestiniog Railway and also ride the unique narrow guage Welsh Highland Railway.

 Itinerary

 Day 1: Home to York

We head northbound to the historic city of York, and the Holiday Inn hotel for two nights.

Day 2: Nostalgic North York Moors Railway
Today as we take a nostalgic trip on the North York Moors Railway, from Pickering to Grosmont. Travelling through the beautiful Esk Valley, we relax in the cosy wood panelled carriages as the steam engine takes us through the Yorkshire countryside. We visit Whitby before heading back to York.

Day 3: Lowlands and Highlands to Fort William
We travel through Scottish Border Country, watching the landscapes become more mountainous as we reach bustling Fort William on the west coast, and the Caledonian Hotel for three nights.

Day 4: The wonderful West Highland Line
Considered by many as one of Britain's most scenic railway journeys, we join the West Highland Line in Fort William for the trip to Mallaig, passing Loch Eil and Ben Nevis, crossing the Glenfinnan viaduct, and along the coast through Arisaig and Morar.

Day 5: Time at leisure in Fort William
Today we have chance to relax in popular Fort William, a great place to explore, with its fantastic setting at the foot of Ben Nevis.

Day 6: Scotland's west to east coast
We join the acclaimed Kyle Line for the journey across the Highlands to Dingwall. Certainly a holiday highlight! We rejoin our coach and continue to the Thistle Hotel tonight in Inverness

Day 7: Inverness through Cairngorms to Carlisle
We head south through the Cairngorms National Park, and over the border to Carlisle, where we stay for two nights at the Hallmark Hotel.

Day 8: Scenic Settle-Carlisle Railway
We join the Settle-Carlisle Railway travelling through the Eden Valley and Yorkshire Dales to reach quaint Settle. After time to explore, we join the train for our journey back to Carlisle.

Day 9: Through the Lake District to Caernarfon
After breakfast we drive through the Lake District, calling at pretty Bowness. We continue into North Wales, to the Celtic Royal Hotel in coastal Caernarfon for four nights.

Day 10: Time at leisure in Caernarfon
Chance to relax in Caernarfon, a bustling and historic town overlooking the Menai Strait and dominated by its castle.

Day 11: Time at leisure in Caernarfon
Enjoy another day at leisure in quaint Caernarfon.

Day 12: Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways
Today we journey on two acclaimed railways in Snowdonia. We join the steam locomotives of the Welsh Highland Railway for a spectacular trip from Caernarfon, and also take the Ffestiniog Railway between Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Day 13: Through Wales to Somerset
Drive through mid Wales, via Shrewsbury and on to the Holiday Inn Bristol Filton for two nights.

Day 14: West Somerset Railway
A trip on one of Britain's longest heritage railways today, as we join the West Somerset Railway going through the Quantock Hills to Minehead.

Day 15: Somerset to home
Sadly, we depart this morning with fond memories.
